General Information:
Shelter for males only. Not a homeless shelter. A transitional housing facility and program. The Center of Hope offers transitional housing with support services: comprehensive substance abuse treatment services; mental health screening and services; anger management classes; GED prep and testing; Adult basic education; budget management; interviewing skills; life skills, employability classes and job search; case management; reintegration services; on-site na/aa; off-site na/aa; transportation (when appropriate); on-site spiritual activities (by client choice); transportation to Salvation Army faith-based programs (by client choice); client newsletter; other long and short term activities for client skill-building, relaxation, and socialization. Also provides two programs for Veterans, Grand and Per Diem and Health Care for Homeless Veterans. The first is a two-year transitional housing program and the second is short-term, up to four months. These enrollments must be approved by the West Palm Beach GPD liaison. Transitional housing is affordable supportive housing designed to provide housing and appropriate support services to persons who are homeless or who are close to homelessness. The transition is to help them be more self sufficient to move towards independent living on their own. Transitional housing locations are oftentimes called Halfway Houses. The naming of the two (Halfway House OR Transitional House) is oftentimes interchangeable.

Many Transitional Housing programs are subsidized and are income based. Income based transitional housing generally charges 30% of your income for rent when you do have income. Contact the transitional housing facility to see if this applies.

Usually there is a maximum stay of 3 months or less. Many of these shelters ask their clients to leave during the day. Meals and other supportive services are often offered. 3 times out of 5 these shelters offer their services free of charge.
