General Information:
ECS Uptown Safe Haven Uptown Safe Haven is a residential facility that provides transitional housing and supportive services to chronically homeless single adults with moderate to severe mental health issues. Residents experience supportive communal living in an alcohol and drug-free environment. In partnership with Community Research Foundation, we provide clients with secure housing, employment counseling, educational guidance, disability income enrollment assistance, a manageable mental health plan, access to onsite support groups, and services focused on skill development and recovery. We offer a “grace-based” program to residents, realizing they will struggle along their journey. Consistent with this, Uptown Safe Haven utilizes the harm reduction approach to transitional housing. While our residence is alcohol and drug-free, residents do not need to be clean and sober before coming to us or while living there. However, there is an expectation that residents will work toward abstinence while at Uptown Safe Haven. Weekly community meetings and art workshops, group meals, pet therapy, monthly BBQs, field trips, and holiday celebrations support the strengthening of interpersonal and other life skills.
