Named for the former mayor of Santa Clara who helped to create the agency, Bill Wilson Center has served residents of Santa Clara County since 1973. The Center responds to the community by adding services, as well as adapting existing programs to better meet the community's changing needs. Founded as a counseling center, the agency added a shelter for homeless and runaway youth in 1977 and has continued to add programs to meet the needs of families and children. In 1993, the agency moved to a new facility which enabled the Bill Wilson Center to expand its runaway and homeless youth shelter to 16 beds. The agency works to strengthen family ties, stabilize the lives of homeless youth, support youth development, and ensure that all people who come to us for help, leave with the tools they need to succeed in their lives.
