General Information:
​​Emergency Shelter: People in need of CAMBA shelters must apply through the NYC Department of Homeless Services (DHS). Use the following numbers:     Families with children: Call (917) 521-3900 or 311     Adult families: Call 311     Single adults: Call 311 CAMBA has 20 years’ experience providing services to reduce homelessness in New York City. Working in partnership with the Department of Homeless Services and other leaders in government and the private sector, CAMBA has established a reputation for developing a continuum of services that rapidly moves homeless families and single adults, including those at risk of homelessness, to housing permanency.  ​ CAMBA’s seven homeless shelters – five for adults and two for families – provide emergency housing and supportive services to over 8,000 people each year. Services include three meals a day, shower and laundry facilities, access to clothing, storage for client belongings, mail and telephone services, case management, recreational activities, medical and mental health services, substance abuse treatment, referrals to rehabilitation facilities and other services to assist clients in the transition to permanent housing. CAMBA also operates a drop-in center that provides provides food and services to homeless adults during the day and volunteer-run overnight beds in churches and synagogues.

Helpful Definitions For Camba:
Emergency Homeless Shelters both provide short term relief for the homeless and low income persons. Usually there is a maximum stay of 3 months or less. Many of these shelters ask their clients to leave during the day. Meals and other supportive services are often offered. 3 times out of 5 these shelters offer their services free of charge.

Drug And Alcohol Rehab programs are intended to treat alcohol and/or drug dependency.  The cost of participating in one of these programs and the method of treatment range significantly. The database operated on this website only includes residential rehab programs (not outpatient programs). We also provide Access to Recovery (ATR) Grant programs for substance abuse treatment.
