Class of Housing/Services: provides housing assistance to runaways, shelter for young adults, aging out of foster care, homeless

General Information:
Since 1972, The Door has helped a diverse and rapidly growing population of disconnected youth in New York City. Specific drop-in hours for runaway and homeless youth begin at 11:00am Monday - Friday, and 12:00pm-6:00pm on Saturdays. The Door also offer supportive housing for yound adults who are aging out of foster care and/or who are homeless. Helpful Definitions For The Door - Runaway And Homeless Youth:
Supportive Housing Programs that provide an alternative living arrangement for individuals who, because of age, disability, substance abuse, mental illness, chronic homelessness or other circumstances, are unable to live independently without care, supervision and/or support to help them in the activities of daily living; or who need access to case management, housing support, vocational, employment and other services to transition to independent living.
