UPDATE THIS LISTING

Class of Housing: Homeless Coalition

General Information:

The  Marion County Homeless Council is the Lead Agency for the Continuum of Care (CoC) in Marion County, and is mandated to provide collaborative community leadership resulting in innovative solutions to reduce homelessness and maximize local mainstream resources to meet the needs of the homeless population and the precariously housed residents throughout the County.

The MCHC provides direct financial assistance through various Prevention Programs. Demographic and socio-economic profiles are often strong predictors of patterns of homelessness. Many families/individuals are literally one pay check away from becoming homeless. Other crippling calamities such as extensive medical expenses, reduced hours of employment, or rental evictions due to landlord foreclosures, add to the challenges and problems in acquiring or maintaining affordable housing.

The Marion County Homeless Council will seek new and innovative approaches to provide for the sustainability and expansion of current facilities and the addition of new facilities to house the homeless.

Further Information:

ShelterListings.org does our best to provide free services. Many of the homeless shelters and services are free of charge. Some charge small fees. We always urge users of our website to visit the websites of the providers when we provide them or give them a phone call to find out more details. Our service is to provide a list of possible resources.

Halfway Houses, Transitional Housing, and Substance Abuse Treatment Centers for the most part charge a fee. Most of the substance abuse resources we provide are low cost, Medicaid or sliding scale fee. We provide as much information as possible on the website of these locations.

Rooming and Boarding Houses do charge fees. We list them where we find them. They are a nice low cost option for housing.
