Class of Housing/Services: Domestic Violence Shelter and Assistance

General Information:
All of our services are free and confidential. We follow a trauma-informed empowerment approach.  We recognize that the client is the expert in their situations and through support, we assist them in weighing their options.  The ultimate goal is the safety of the client, regardless of their decision to stay, leave, or press charges.   Safe House DASACC offers a safe place for those misplaced by interpersonal violence. The safe house is a 30 day program open to women and children in imminent danger of abuse. The house is located in a confidential location and is staffed 24/7 with an upgraded security system. Each family has their own bedroom but shares a common living room, kitchen and playroom. There are a variety of services available to residents of the safe house to assist each client towards self-sufficiency.   Individual Counseling We have individual counseling by licensed counselors using a variety of techniques including cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavioral, and eye movement de-sensitization and reprocessing (EMDR).  We can provide individual counseling in English and Spanish.  Appointments are available in Washington, Hackettstown, and Phillipsburg.     Group Counseling We have four counseling groups currently being offered.  We have two victim support groups, a therapeutic sewing group, and our VISTA program for women who use force.  Please call our helpline for more information and to set up an intake for these programs. Legal Advocacy Our legal advocates can provide you with assistance for legal matters related to domestic violence or sexual assault.  Our advocates are at the Belvidere Courthouse every Thursday for restraining order hearings.  We can provide assistance with restraining order preparation, referrals to Legal Services and court accompaniment.  We are not lawyers and cannot give legal advice.   DVRT & SART Our 24 hour response teams are available to meet clients immediately after a situation.   The Domestic Violence Response Team responds to police stations and the Sexual Assault Response Team responds to the hospitals.   Volunteer advocates provide information on options, including restraining orders and pressing charges.
