Class of Housing/Services: shelter for homeless families, single men and women. the main goal is to provide services for up to 30 nights so that clients can find housing, stable incomes, and other skills and services to prevent them from returning to a homeless situation.

General Information:
The Adams County Homeless Shelter is a low barrier family only shelter.  We can serve up to 10 families at any time and typically half of the individuals staying at the shelter are children.  A family's stay is brief, typically 14 - 30 days and those staying at the shelter will be focused on finding affordable housing. To do a pre-screening or to see if space exists at the Adams County Homeless Shelter call 717-337-2413   The Adams County Shelter for the Homeless is a family based shelter, however on limited basis they do take single males and single females. The shelter has 10 rooms for families accommodating up to 7 children each, and they also have 4 rooms for single males and females. The shelter is open 24 hours a day / 7 days a week. Residents are required to pay 15% of their net income for program fees and can stay for up to 30 days. Other services include: - Food - Clothing - Volunteer Services - Translation/Interpretation - Handicapped-Accessible - General Education/Prevention - Education Sexuality/Reproductive Health - Drug/Alcohol Agency Training - Brochures - Audio Visuals - Condom Distribution - Life Skills Education - Budgeting Education - Referrals Potential clients must make an appointment with a case manager to determine if this program is appropriate for them. The application process usually takes less than a day, however the shelter is usually very full. Also, the clients are required to be involved in a work program.
