General Information:
Women's Shelter The Siena/Francis House’s Shelter for women (also known as the “Siena House”) is located in our 1702 Nicholas Street facility, and has 40 emergency shelter beds available, all of which are filled on a nightly basis. The Siena House accommodates women (19 years and older). Men's Shelter The Siena/Francis House’s Men’s Shelter (also known as the “Francis House”) is located in our Baright Shelter (1111 North 17th Street), and has 222 emergency shelter beds available, all of which are filled on a nightly basis. Because of the tremendous need for this service, we utilize our organization’s dining room and lobby as an “overflow” men’s shelter. Depending on the weather, we typically have 100 or more additional men sleep on mats on the dining room floor, or in chairs. The Francis House accommodates men (19 years and older) in the overnight shelter. Guests can check in for overnight shelter as early as 4:30 p.m. daily, and must leave the shelter by 7:00 a.m. the next morning. Meals The Siena/Francis House is the largest meal provider to the homeless in the State of Nebraska. In 2016, the Siena/Francis House Homeless shelter provided 417,226 meals to the more than 3,800 hungry individuals who were homeless at our shelter last year. The following meals comprise our shelter’s Meal Provider Program:     Breakfast     Brunch on Sundays and all major holidays     Mid-day Lunch & Sack Lunches     Evening Dinner Each year, the Siena/Francis House partners with nearly 450 local grocery stores, food production companies, schools, businesses, churches, and households to provide the vast majority of the food used to prepare these meals. Similarly, the Siena/Francis House partners with over 350 local churches, schools, businesses, and households to prepare and serve these meals. These relationships allow the Siena/Francis House the ability to serve the profound number of persons who come to us in need of food. These relationships also allow us to keep our Meal Provider Program costs as low as possible.
