General Information:
SAMMinistries’ Transitional Living and Learning Center (TLLC) is home for 40 families as they work to overcome homelessness. The TLLC provides housing, support and resources to families (parent plus at least one minor child) who show a commitment to gaining self-sufficiency. The individual needs of all family members are supported for a two year period, promoting the viability of the family as a whole while they transition out of homelessness. Transitional Housing Residents:     Have a goal to work or attend school for at least 30 hours per week     Meet with Case Managers regularly to establish short and long-term goals     Participate in life skills classes: money management, parenting, conflict resolution, etc. Applicants Eligibility for Transitional Living and Learning Center     Family must have custody of at least one minor child     Must complete a criminal background check     Head of household must be working or attending school for at least 30 hours per week     Must meet with case managers regularly to establish short and long-term goals     Must attend weekly life skills classes: money management, parenting, conflict resolution, etc. Applicants Eligibility for Transitional House     Family must have custody of at least one minor child     Must complete a criminal background check     Family must have a steady source of income     Program fees are $100 per month, and half of utilities are paid by resident     Must meet with case managers regularly   The Transitional Living and Learning Center provides up to 2 years of transitional housing for homeless families with minor children. The head of household must either work or attend school for a minimum of 30 hours a week. Transitional housing is affordable supportive housing designed to provide housing and appropriate support services to persons who are homeless or who are close to homelessness. The transition is to help them be more self sufficient to move towards independent living on their own. Transitional housing locations are oftentimes called Halfway Houses. The naming of the two (Halfway House OR Transitional House) is oftentimes interchangeable.

Many Transitional Housing programs are subsidized and are income based. Income based transitional housing generally charges 30% of your income for rent when you do have income. Contact the transitional housing facility to see if this applies.

Services provided at transitional housing facilities varies from substance abuse treatment, to psychological assistance, job training, domestic violence assistance, etc. The assistance provided varies, but it is generally affordable and low cost housing. Transitional housing facilities also may or may not assist with alcohol and/or drug substance abuse treatment.
